Bulbs Unlimited light objects contain common light bulbs which are connected by Snap Buttons (Press Buttons) with each other. For constucting light objects with different shapes and sizes with we invented a jig. This jig, the "Inkubator" is used to define the precise positions for the Snap Buttons on the bulbs. The Inkubator carries numbered holes in it´s surface through which the bulbs could be marked with a pen (eg. water resistent pen - Edding). Without this jig it is not possible to position the Snap Buttons precise enough to gather symetric light objects. In theory the Inkubator could be used to build uncountable different shapes of Bulbs Unlimited light objects. The Inkubator is included in our construction kits which are descriped below.
Bulbs Unlimited Packs contain all components which are required to transform (burnt out) standard light bulbs (E27) into your custom build light objects. 3 different package sizes are available, which contain different numbers of components. In this chapter we show how to use "Inkubator", snap buttons and glue to generate sustainable, low cost designer lamps. Light bulbs used in light object could be easily re-used for further constructions, by simple deassembling.
Just open the "Inkubator" and drop a bulb inside. The "Inkubator" is the core part of the Bulbs Unlimited system and should capture the bulbs for defining glue points for connecting snap buttons. Therefore the surface of the Inkubator contains holes. Every hole is consecutively numbered and leads a waterproofed pen to the included bulb. Construction manuals show which number combination you should use for building the different shaped light objects.
Many bulb manufacturers changed their bulb size, due to economic reasons, from 6 cm to 5,5 cm glas body diameter. Therefore we invented an adapter, which enables the Inkubator to handle these new bulbs as well. The adapter just should be placed inside the Inkubator and fixes the bulb in it`s center. Afterwards, the bulb should be marked as usual through the consecutively numbered holes. The new adapter is now available in our web shop.
Then add marks for snap buttons on bulb`s surface by pointing a pen through the holes of the Inkubator. Everry hole is consecutively numbered. Using different number combinations enables the construction of light objects with different shapes and sizes. Afterwords remove the marked bulb...
After removing the bulb from the Inkubator, add glue on marks and let it dry for a while.
After a few minutes stick snap buttons on marks and let the glue for 48 hours fully cure.
After glue is completely hardened, just plug the light bulbs together like Lego® bricks. If you get bored by a light object, just deassemble it and build a new one. .
And finaly, plug bulbs together and fix them with a nylon strip on lamp holder ring. There it goes your new light object. Find different example light objects by clicking the links below
